Health811 is Ontario’s free health advice line. Call 811 or chat online, any time of day or night, and a registered nurse will help you decide what to do.

Who can use it

Anyone in Ontario. You do not need a health card.

How to get it

  1. Call 811 (TTY 1-866-797-1698), or open the chat at health811.ontario.ca.
  2. Ask for an interpreter — Health811 offers interpretation in more than 300 languages, including Tamil, Mandarin, Cantonese, Urdu and Tagalog.
  3. The nurse may advise you to care for yourself at home, see a family doctor or walk-in clinic, or go to an emergency department.

What it costs

Nothing.

What Health811 is not

It is not for emergencies. If someone is having chest pain, trouble breathing, signs of a stroke, or is in danger, call 911.
